Fresh from Honduras: Our Coffee is Roasted Right Where it is Grown
At Spirit Origin Coffee, we're pioneering roasting at source in Honduras, dramatically benefiting local economies and ensuring unmatched coffee freshness. This sustainable practice is a first in Honduras, marking a significant leap towards a brighter, more flavorful future.
Roasting coffee at the source enables us to maintain full quality control from picking the beans at the producer's farm through to our operations and roasting in Honduras. This meticulous process ensures our coffee is always free of mycotoxins, pesticides, and herbicides. We commit to excellence by lab testing all our coffee, guaranteeing a pure, unmatched quality in every cup.
STIR YOUR SPIRIT WITH EVERY CUP
SPIRIT ORIGIN is a different blend of coffee. Our beans come from microlots in Honduras and we are laser-focused on selecting only the top 1% of the beans adhering to environmentally-friendly, organic processes. All our coffees consistently score above 87 points, as ranked by the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association).
Faqs
How long does it take to deliver coffee?
Orders are typically roasted and prepared within 1–3 business days.
Because our coffee ships directly from Honduras, delivery times depend on the shipping option selected and customs processing:
- United States (standard shipping): typically 10–14 days due to current U.S.
Customs and FDA processing times - United States (DHL Express): typically 4–5 business days
- Europe: usually 5–7 business days with DHL Express
- Other international destinations: typically 5–7 business days with DHL Express
Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number so you can follow your
coffee’s journey from Honduras to your door.
Is your coffee freshly roasted?
Yes. All Spirit Origin coffees are freshly roasted in small batches at origin in Honduras.
We typically roast after an order is placed, ensuring your coffee is shipped shortly after roasting. Every bag includes the roast date, so you know exactly when it was roasted.
Why is coffee roasted at origin?
Most coffee is exported as raw beans and roasted in consuming countries. At Spirit Origin, we roast where the coffee is grown.
Roasting at origin allows us to:
- Maintain complete quality control from farm to cup
- Create skilled jobs in coffee-producing communities
- Keep more value in Honduras where coffee is produced
- Share the stories of Honduran farmers directly with customers
This model helps create a more equitable and transparent coffee supply chain.
Why should I order coffee from Honduras?
Honduras is one of the world’s largest and most exciting specialty coffee origins,
producing complex and award-winning coffees.
Spirit Origin works directly with exceptional Honduran producers, including farms that
have produced Cup of Excellence #1 and #2 winning coffees, the most prestigious
award in specialty coffee.
Ordering directly from origin allows you to taste coffees that are rarely available outside the country.
What makes Spirit Origin coffee unique?
Spirit Origin operates a fully integrated specialty coffee model at origin.
Our work in Honduras includes:
- Direct partnerships with small producers
- Coffee sourcing and quality control at origin
- An in-country specialty coffee roastery
- A coffee lab and cupping program
- The Coffee Omakase experience in Roatán
This approach allows us to deliver exceptional coffees with full traceability and transparency.
How long does the coffee stay fresh?
Whole-bean coffee is best enjoyed within 4–6 weeks after roasting, although it can
remain enjoyable for longer when stored properly.
For optimal freshness:
- Store coffee in a cool, dry place
- Keep it in an airtight container
- Grind just before brewing
Our packaging includes one-way freshness valves, which protect the coffee during
shipping and preserve aroma.
Will the coffee still be fresh after international shipping?
Yes. In fact, coffee usually reaches its peak flavor several days after roasting.
Because we roast shortly before shipping and use freshness-sealed bags with one-way valves, the coffee is protected during transit and often arrives right as it reaches optimal brewing freshness.
What grind size should I choose?
If you have a coffee grinder, we recommend ordering whole beans for the best flavor.
If you prefer ground coffee, select the grind size that matches your brewing method:
- Espresso: fine
- Pour over / V60 / Chemex: medium
- Drip coffee maker: medium
- French press: coarse
If you are unsure, medium grind works well for most home brewers.
Are your coffees traceable to specific farms?
Yes. Many of our coffees come from individual farms or small micro-lots, allowing you to know exactly where your coffee was grown.
We proudly highlight producers across Honduras and frequently feature coffees
recognized in the Cup of Excellence competition, which identifies the highest-scoring coffees in the country.
Do you offer rare or limited coffees?
Yes. Throughout the year we release limited micro-lots, experimental processing
methods, and Cup of Excellence coffees.
These coffees are produced in very small quantities and are often available only for a
short time.
Subscribers receive priority access to these rare releases.
Why is it beneficial to subscribe to coffee?
A subscription ensures you never run out of fresh coffee while offering additional
benefits:
- Automatic deliveries of freshly roasted coffee
- Subscriber discounts
- Early access to limited and rare coffees
- Flexibility to pause, skip, or cancel anytime
Subscriptions are the best way to consistently enjoy fresh Honduran specialty coffee.
